Description

The objective of this document is to specify requirements and provide instruction on the preparation of the background and the bonded fixing and grouting of floor and wall tiles, including mosaic tiles and panels. It also provides information on the application of tiles in swimming pools, gradients on floors, screeds and rendering, cleaning and maintenance.

The major changes in this edition are as follows:

(a) Amalgamation of AS 3958.1 and AS 3958.2 into one document.
(b) Change from purely a guidance document to one that includes requirements.
(c) Inclusion of requirements for stone, reconstituted stone and glass, in addition to ceramic, tiles.
(d) Inclusion of requirements for panels.
(e) Inclusion of greater detail on adhesive types and information regarding reaction resin adhesives, low modulus adhesives and reaction resin grout.
(f) Major revision of methodologies, as a result of the inclusion of current materials.

Standards Australia thanks the International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) for permission to reproduce Figure J.1 from ICRI Technical Guidelines 310.2R.
