AS 4431:2019 Safe working on new lift installations in new constructions
Standards Australia
Supersedes: AS/NZS 4431:1996 Safe working on new lift installations in new constructions
Draft Designation: DR AS 4431:2017After consultation with stakeholders in both countries, Standards Australia and Standards New Zealand decided to develop this Standard as an Australian Standard rather than an Australian/New Zealand Standard.
The objective of this Standard is to provide those responsible for lift installations in new buildings with guidelines to safe working provisions and practices.
The objective of the revision is to upgrade from a guidance document to a specification.
This Standard specifies safe working provisions and practices for those responsible for, and involved in, new lift installations in new liftwells.
NOTE: It is intended that this Standard be supported by training, and documented installation procedures.
The requirements relate to the safety of persons when entering and leaving the work area on a lift installation and while working there; they also relate to the safety of others in the vicinity, whether working or not, who may be endangered by the actions of those working on lifts.
NOTE: The Standard that applies to a particular type of lift will specify additional requirements.
