Provides specific guidance to architects, planners, designers, engineers, builders, installers, maintenance personnel, building owners, managers and users in the planning and installation of physical pathways and spaces in and between buildings to accommodate the equipment and cabling infrastructure necessary for communications; to the extent that this is not adequately covered for Australian and New Zealand purposes in AS/NZSISO/IEC 14763.2:2014.

AS/NZS 3084:2017 is amended as follows.

Recommends design criteria for conditions affecting the acoustic environment within building interiors to ensure a healthy, comfortable and productive environment for the occupants and the users.

This Standard adopts ISO/IEC 14763-2:2019 with modifications for Australia and New Zealand, which specify requirements for the planning, installation and operation of telecommunications cabling and cabling infrastructures including cabling, pathways, spaces and telecommunications bonds (other than that specified in AS 30129) in support of generic cabling standards and associated documents.

This Standard provides safety rules for optical fibre communication systems and associated materials and equipment.

Adopts ISO/IEC14763-3:2014 to specify systems and methods for the inspection and testing of installed optical fibre cabling designed in accordance with premises cabling standards including ISO/IEC11801, ISO/IEC24764, ISO/IEC24702 and ISO/IEC15018.

Provides a method whereby the frequency dependent values of airborne sound insulation of building elements and in building can be converted into a single number characterizing the acoustical performance; this Standard is identical with and reproduced from ISO 717-1:1996.

Adopts ISO 140-7:1998 with national modifications to specify field methods for the measuring the impact sound insulation properties of building floors by using a standard tapping machine; this method is applicable bare floors and also to floor with coverings.
