Provides specific guidance to architects, planners, designers, engineers, builders, installers, maintenance personnel, building owners, managers and users in the planning and installation of physical pathways and spaces in and between buildings to accommodate the equipment and cabling infrastructure necessary for communications; to the extent that this is not adequately covered for Australian and New Zealand purposes in AS/NZSISO/IEC 14763.2:2014.

AS/NZS 3084:2017 is amended as follows.

This Standard adopts ISO/IEC 14763-2:2019 with modifications for Australia and New Zealand, which specify requirements for the planning, installation and operation of telecommunications cabling and cabling infrastructures including cabling, pathways, spaces and telecommunications bonds (other than that specified in AS 30129) in support of generic cabling standards and associated documents.

This Standard provides safety rules for optical fibre communication systems and associated materials and equipment.

Provides the procedure for structural design; includes design procedures, reference to design actions (other parts of the series), combinations of actions, detailing for robustness, methods of analysis and methods for confirmation of a limit states design; also covers the use of special studies and experimental testing and, for New Zealand, criteria for selection of annual probability of exceedance.

Provides design values of snow and ice actions for use in structural design; it is intended to be used in conjunction with AS/NZS 1170.0, which gives the procedure for structural design; snow regions are defined and ground snow loads are provided for a range of annual probabilities of exceedance; other factors cover the environment around the structure, the geometry of the structure and the effect of winds on snow distribution.

Sets out minimum requirements for the design of structural members cold-formed to shape from carbon or low-alloy steel sheet, strip, plate or bar not more than 25mm in thickness and used for load-carrying purposes in buildings.

Adopts ISO/IEC14763-3:2014 to specify systems and methods for the inspection and testing of installed optical fibre cabling designed in accordance with premises cabling standards including ISO/IEC11801, ISO/IEC24764, ISO/IEC24702 and ISO/IEC15018.

Sets out procedures for determining wind speeds and resulting wind actions to be used in the structural design of structures subjected to wind actions other than those caused by tornadoes. To be read in conjunction with AS/NZS 1170.0.

Provides design values of permanent, imposed and other actions to be used in the limit state design of structures and members; intended to be used in conjunction with AS/NZS 1170.0.
