Sets out minimum requirements for the analysis, design and construction of concrete structures and members which contain reinforcing steel, or prestressing tendons or both, and requirements for plain concrete structures and members; the Standard applies to concrete with a characteristic compressive strength in the range of 20 MPa to 50 MPa and a density in the range 1800 kg/m(sup)3(/sup) to 2800 kgm(sup)3(/sup).

The 1999 edition of AS 1684.2 is amended as follows; the amendments should be inserted in the appropriate places.

Includes details of materials to be used in the manufacture of aluminium windows, design criteria, glazing, corrosion protection and performance requirements; test requirements are provided for structural performance, operating force, air infiltration and water penetration.

The 1999 edition of AS 1684.3 is amended as follows; the amendments should be inserted in the appropriate places.

Covers the determination of minimum loads to be assumed in the structural design of buildings and related structures, but does not apply to special structures such as road and rail bridges and cranes nor to loads arising from fluid pressures; formulas for obtaining roof line loads and for determining permissible reductions in design live loads for floors, columns and bearing walls are given; tables are included of live loads to be assumed for a wide range of building uses or acceptances as well as of dead loads for the more commonly used building materials.

Applies to the design, fabrication, erection, repair and alteration of steel structures, including foot and service bridges, but does not apply to road and rail bridges, material less than 3 mm thick, steel for which the design yield stress exceeds 450 MPa, and cold-formed structures (see AS 1538).
