AS 1670

This series groups together the current parts to Australian Standard, AS 1670 Fire detection, warning, control and intercom systems - System design, installation and commissioning, available in the BIG library.

The AS 1670 series is a set of Australian standards that outlines the requirements for the design, installation, and maintenance of fire detection, warning, control, and intercom systems in buildings. These standards provide detailed guidelines to ensure that fire safety systems are effective in detecting fires early, alerting occupants, and controlling fire spread through automated systems. The AS 1670 series is essential for ensuring that buildings are equipped with reliable fire protection systems, helping to safeguard lives and property by enabling timely evacuation and response in the event of a fire.

Current Standards

The objective of this Standard is to achieve the reliable monitoring of fire detection and alarm systems (FDAS) installed in buildings by a remotely located monitoring service and to transfer required signals to a fire dispatch centre.
Specifies the design, installation and commissioning requirements for emergency warning systems and emergency intercom systems used in buildings for the evacuation of building occupants in the event of a fire or other type of emergency.
Sets out requirements for the design, installation and commissioning of fire detection and alarm systems comprising components conforming with the requirements of the appropriate product Standard.
