This Standard adopts IEC 60079-13:2017 (ED 2.0) with modifications for Australia and New Zealand, which provides requirements for the design, construction, assessment, verification and marking of rooms used to protect internal equipment by pressurization or artificial ventilation (or both as applicable) when located in an explosive gas atmosphere or combustible dust atmosphere hazardous area. Such rooms may be with or without an internal source of flammable gas or vapour and may provide a means of protection for installations associated with explosive atmospheres.

The objective of this Standard is to provide uniform requirements that regulatory authorities may apply in Australia for basic safety and public health issues relating to the use of water heaters and hot-water storage tanks.

AS 1720-1975 provides design data for sawn timber, laminated timber, timber in poleform, plywood and various types of fastenings.

Specifies performance and design requirements for Category P lighting schemes as described in AS/NZS 1158.0. Also specifies data needed to design for and assess compliance with those requirements.

Specifies a flame atomic absorption spectrometric method for the determination of magnesium content between 0.010 percent and 0.25 percent in all types of iron and steel.

Specifies a spectrophotometric method using diantipyrylmethane as a chromogen, measured spectrophotometrically at 390 nm. The method can be used for the determination of titanium content between 0.005 percent and 1.20 percent in steel.

Recommends design sound levels and reverberation times for different areas of occupancy in various categories of buildings. Specifies methods of measuring the ambient sound level reverberation time. This Standard is intended for use in assessing the acoustic performance of buildings and building services. It does not apply to the evaluation of occupancy noise.

AS 1743:2023 specifies graphics, fonts, layout and size requirements together with an abridged materials and manufacturing specification for the manufacture of the standard road signs provided for in the AS 1742 series.
