Provides specific guidance to architects, planners, designers, engineers, builders, installers, maintenance personnel, building owners, managers and users in the planning and installation of physical pathways and spaces in and between buildings to accommodate the equipment and cabling infrastructure necessary for communications; to the extent that this is not adequately covered for Australian and New Zealand purposes in AS/NZSISO/IEC 14763.2:2014.

AS/NZS 3084:2017 is amended as follows.

Specifies the criteria for the selection of portable fire extinguishers and the requirements for their application, location and distribution.

Specifies requirements for the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of automatic fire sprinkler systems for one and two family homes.

Specifies requirements for the design, installation and acceptance testing (commissioning) of automatic fire sprinkler systems in accommodation buildings not more than four storeys.

Sets out minimum criteria for the design, installation and commissioning of combined sprinkler and hydrant systems (including fire hose reels where appropriate) in multistorey buildings greater than two storeys in height.

Provides building certifiers guidance on how to meet their responsibilities for sufficient inspections under the Building Act 1975 (BA) and the Building Regulation 2006 (BR).

The scope of these guidelines is limited to inspection of class 1a buildings and class 10 buildings and structures; a building certifier may consider the guidance provided under the risk matrix of the inspection guidelines for class 2-9 when performing certification functions for building work associated with a class 1b building.

Provides guidance to local governments, building certifiers, building owners and other stakeholders about information to be included in a Certificate of Occupancy (CofO), formerly referred to as a Certificate of Classification (CofC) and where these certificates should be displayed.
